About us
Ilkeston Theatre Company was formed in 1988 by a couple of local people. At the time, the majority of local Amateur Theatre/Musical Societies required acting and singing auditions to be undertaken before any prospective candidate could become a member. It was obvious that there were many people that had the passion to be on stage but didn't have the necessary skills.
Ilkeston Theatre Company was founded with the sole aim of giving anyone an opportunity who had the passion to be on stage. Even those who may lack the, experience, confidence or skills to undertake traditional auditions.
This ethos is still maintained to this day and we pride ourselves on this. Many of the people you see in our shows had never acted or sung in public before they joined!
