The Ilkeston Theatre Company was formed in 1988 with the sole aim of giving an opportunity to any person who had a passion to be either on stage or work backstage.
You don't have to have previous experience. If you are keen to learn, then you are very welcome to join us.
To this day, the majority of local Amateur Theatre/Musical Societies require you to take a singing and acting audition before they let you become a member. It was obvious that many people had a passion to be on stage but didn't have the necessary skills. And so, Ilkeston Theatre Company was formed.
This principle has been maintained in Ilkeston Theatre Company to this day and most of the people you see in our shows had never acted or sung in public before they joined!
In order to produce two shows a year, a large amount of funding is required. The basic cost of each show is around £3,000. This means that members will organise themselves to raise money at local Carnivals and concerts to help with the production costs.
